5 Things Christian Bloggers Should Pray For

In my previous post, I shared a few tips on how to let God guide your blog.

One of those tips was about prayer.

As Christians, we tend to underestimate the importance of prayer

However, prayer is such an important part of every believer’s life.

The Bible reminds us to pray about everything (Phil 4:6), that includes your blog.

But what is it that you should be praying for?

Today, we’re going to look at the top 5 areas Christian bloggers should pray for.

What Every Christian Blogger Should Pray For

1. Pray for Passion.

“because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with great conviction…” (1 Thess 1:5)

How much passion and conviction the Apostal Paul must have had, that his words were accompanied by the power of the Holy Spirit to turn the hearts of men.

Your words can also be full of such passion and conviction.

No matter what your niche may be, pray for God to give you passion.

Passion for what?

First and foremost your relationship with Christ.

Compassion for your audience and the desire to meet their needs.

Ask God to let your passion for your topic and your audience to be felt through your writing.

2. Pray for Direction.

Pray for God’s guidance.

If you’re just starting a blog, ask God what your blog’s purpose is?

Even if you’re a veteran blogger, you should regularly seek God’s plan for your blog.

What audience should you be serving?

What topics should you be writing about?

Ask him to guide your fingers as you type your blog post.

Ask God to help you write in such a way that it’s as if he is speaking directly to your reader’s heart.

3. Pray for Clarity.

Pray that your message will be clear and easy for your audience to understand.

We can have passion and direction from God, but if the message is not clear, then none of that matters.

Do you struggle with writing and grammar?

Ask God to help you write clearly and effectively.

Moses was concerned about the way he spoke when God called him to go deliver the Israelites.

But God sent him someone to help him.

He will provide you with help as well.

There are plenty of free online writing tools that can help improve your writing and grammar.

One of my favorite online proofreading tools is Grammarly

Not only do you want your message to be clear, but you want it to impact your readers.

You want your readers to walk away from your post having gained something from what they just read.

4. Pray for Your Audience.

Jesus prayed for his disciples while they were with him.

He also prayed for you, his future disciple.

The Apostal Paul prayed for the churches under his care regularly.

God has blessed you with the audience you have.

Even if you don’t have an audience right now you can still pray for your future audience.

Ask God to direct those people that need to hear the message God has given you to your website.

If you have an e-mail list or a Facebook group take time to pray for the members of your list.

If you can’t pray for them individually, pray for them as a whole.

If you feel led to do so, ask them if they have any prayer requests.

I promise you, you will never regret praying for your readers.

5. Pray for Wisdom.

For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:6, NIV)

When it comes to blogging there is a steep learning curve.

It’s not as easy as those lovely Pinterest pins would have you believe.

On top of that, there are hundreds of blog posts and courses that you can take to help you learn the various aspects of blogging.

Which course should you take?

There are so many options and so many different things to learn, it can be overwhelming.

That’s why you need to ask God for wisdom and understanding.

There are a lot of things that you will have to learn and implement on your own.

But, when you seek his face, he will lead you down the right paths.

Ask God to lead you to people that can help you and show you how to grow and run your blog.

A quick word of advice.

God will not always lead you to another Christian to help you along your way.

While it is great to have the support of fellow believers, sometimes what we need may come from a secular source.

As a wife and a mother, I know first hand that blogging can be very time-consuming.

If you’re not careful it can cause you to neglect your other duties.

Ask God to show you how to balance the demands of blogging with your everyday life.

He will help you create the perfect routine.

I was just reminded yesterday that when I took a summer off from blogging, God took my blog in a different direction, and people’s marriages were being healed. It’s important to seek the Lord’s heart, as to what we are to write.
